Help me upgrade the video on my (PCI-only) Dell Dimension 2400.
I'm trying to get a new video card for my Dell Dimension 2400, which has video (64mb Intel) pre-integrated into the motherboard.
Now, the kicker is that the Dimension 2400 only has PCI ports. Being not too computer-innards knowledgable, I bought a 256mb PCI-E card that didn't fit into my motherboard at all.
Are there any decent PCI video cards out there that can offer good performance in conjunction with plenty of RAM or is it time to get a new computer for doing graphics-intensive work?
How should I contest the big bad phone company? More inside.
I recently terminated service at my business with Qwest and was surprised to receive a $2400 ETF fee. I feel I've been slimed.
Original Qwest Centrex 21 contract signed 4/11/05 to conclude 5/31/08
Early termination prorated fees determined by months remaining in contract
8 lines =$395 monthly
Qwest choice business prime contract approved by bookkeeper on telephone 5/26/07 without approval from management
Early termination fees $300 per line
8 lines = $449 monthly less $65 credit for business prime contract
I had previously called to ask about any contracts or ETF’s and was told there were no contracts by a dsl customer service agent. Apparently she only checked for contracts on our dsl account and neglected to check our phone account.
When I called back to inquire about the fees I was told that our Centrex plan was being discontinued and they needed to change all
MoneyFilter: I have been paying back a loan and will continue paying back for several more years. A birthday gift in this context, has two options: (a) to permit me to cease making payments for one year ($200/mo) and resume payments 1 year from now and each month of this year being marked as paid (a savings of $200/month for 12 months), or (b) be given the equivalent $2400 cash up front.
In that context, would receipt of the up-front gift NOT appropriately knock off a year total from the loan, so that I would have one less year to pay the loan (and resume paying monthly payments on the regular due date without stopping but with the final payment date down the line being a year sooner), or would that be like receiving the gift twice?
Even if I were simply given an outright gift of $2400, having no bearing on mortgage payments as context, which would be a better choice? Not having to pay for 1 year out of a loan and still be current when the year is completed, or gett
Help us downsize! Moving from 2400 sq ft to 1200 sq ft and .25 acres to .00000000025 acres.
Question says it all. Moving from a house to a condo w/ half the square footage and losing our yard. What'd you do when you had to drastically downsize? I'm going to miss the garden and the dogs won't have room to run (but there is a dog park very near and the wife won't be working). There is also a severe lack of storage. Any tips on using space efficiently are welcomed.

I'm actually most interested in the Marinade feature on the newer model. Is this "quick marinade" not doable with the older model? A link to any review specifically comparing the 3800 (new stainless steel) model and the 2400 (old white plastic) model would be appreciated.
I have a Dell Dimension 2400 that is about 10 years old. It hasn't been started up in five years. I am actually using it right now. Is there anything that I can do with the default Windows XP software that can make it run faster, without downloading anything or buying anything? I figure that there is something that I can do within the computer but I have no idea as to what that is.
I recently took the SAT+Writing. I did relatively well on the 2400 scale with a score of 2240. This is due to the fact that I got a perfect score on the essay. However, I've heard that the Critical Reading and Math scores are truly the important parts, leaving me with only a 1440 on the 1600 scale.
We are looking into rewiring an old 2400 square foot home. The home as an attic and a basement in addition to 2 levels. It currently has a 200 amp circuit breaker.
I know all estimates will not be exact but I am just looking for a range. Around 5k? 10k? Thanks!
It seems to have something to do with the cores not being able to get a process from a different core.
So I updated all the drives and looked through everything i could think of. Something I found said it might be hardware failure, so I thought I would look at core temp. Using SpeedFan it shows 88C, but the bios shows 38C and Core Temp 1.0 shows no higher then 34C for each core. Any idea why SpeedFan would display like that and a cure for my BSOD? Thanks!
I'm just wondering because we're moving from a 900 sq ft. house into a much larger one (2400). I'm a little nervous about having to clean it and was wondering if anyone out there has a similar sized house and how long it takes to clean. BTW I'm talking actual cleaning (windows, dusting, floors etc) I'm a very tidy person. Thank you so much!
Hello, the top CD drive of my friends' Dell Dimension 2400 keeps opening up when it boots and during computer use. The OS is Windows XP Home Edition SP3. When she closes it, it almost always opens up again right away. Suggestions for the source of the trouble and the solution?

So my grandmother received a call last night from someone claiming to be my brother in San Francisco (she is in Illinois). Apparently they were convincing, and "my brother" told her he was in jail for drug use and needed $2400 wired to his account to post bail. They knew his college name, and both …
