Questions About Aeronautical Engineering Technology

What Major should I pursue if I want to work with Green Technology?

I want to make new, more efficient, solar panels and develop green or sustainable energy sources in the future. In addition to that, I hope to make it more applicable for commercial use, such as designing a unit based for airplanes. I figure that might require an aeronautics engineering degree, but what degree would you guys recommend for studying green energy technology? Any colleges too? Not just community colleges. THANKS GUYYYYSSS

Why are people constantly clamoring about manufacturing jobs?

This has been a manufacturing lead recovery. We have plenty of manufacturing jobs. Our Aeronautical Engineering industry is thriving with Boeing & Airbus consistently getting orders. Demand for mechanical engineers, aerospace engineers, electrical engineers and other kinds have been soaring. Our defensive spending is also keeping our military engineering companies afloat. Ford, GM, Tesla and other auto manufacturers are increasing hiring substantially to produce lower emission vehicles looking for electrical, mechanical, automotive engineers and even people with skills working with battery and energy technology. We are currently the largest producers of photovoltaic cells, and rank high in wind turbines. Although China is still kicking our arses in this industry due to their government subsidies. These are only a few examples, not exhaustive. Let's not ignore the development that occurs in semiconductors here, although we don't manufacture them. I am getting extremely vexed as to

How can i become an Air Traffic Controller?

I am an Aeronautical Engineer and recently i came to interact with an ATC system where i work. It is so advanced. With my earlier notion that its a very risky business now i think with advancement in technology there is a compromise for human risk factors. I badly want to an ATC now. Please guide me on what steps i have to take? Information on the payroll for ATCs is also highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why did passenger airships (zeppelins, etc) take so long to develop?

In search of an aeronautical/science historian who can explain something to a history major with next to no engineering background. I understand that in 1852 Henri Giffard built an airship with a steam powered engine, but it wasn't until gas engines are more commonly used that zeppelins and other larger, more navigable craft were employed. Is the answer that gas is enough more powerful than steam, that smaller, lighter engines could be used? Was something wrong with his propeller design? Or was there a different path that could have been explored with the materials/technology on hand in the mid-nineteenth century that they didn't notice, that in hindsight is clear? Many thanks - no real reason, just terribly curious.

Why has the US never returned German intellectual property stolen from 1945-1948?

The amount of German patents and commercial, military and industrial secrets stolen by the Americans during the period from 1945-1948 is absolutely terrible. 800,000 patents were recorded to exist for German inventors prior to World War II. The Americans stole EVERYTHING, the entire extant store of German patents; took the stolen ideas, patents, processes, equipment, and other intellectual property of German inventors back to the the United States, "reinvented" them, and stamped them as "Made in USA" and protected them with US patents. Germany was completely deprived of all previous scientific leads, advanced technology, and brilliant minds. Our scientists' ideas were simply absorbed into the US economy. The total value of this horrid theft exceeds 1 trillion dollars, and fueled the postwar-technological boom in America. Most of their "advanced technology" is ACTUALLY GERMAN. And how much credit, how much money, has been paid to German inventors, how much has been given to Germany's ec
