Do you think football players hit their peak and retire too early?

I follow a lot of sports. Football, NFL, NHL, UFC, Rugby Union and Rugby League. I've just been thinking about some of the top people in these sports, especially NHL, NFL and UFC. Guys like, Anderson Silva, Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, Drew Brees etc. These guys are all in their 30s and considered to be the best in their sports and at the peak of their career. Hockey players tend to play at top level until their late 30s on average and Brett Favre was considered one of the best QBs in the NFL until retiring at the age of 40! It just makes me think that maybe footballers have quite a short career in comparison, yeah guys like Giggs, Scholes and Zenetti are exceptions, but a lot of players are considered too old and past it to play at the very top level past the age of 30. Maybe if the majority of them weren't such women this might not be the case but still with the highest salaries in sport you think they could play consistently well into their 30s and beyond.
