What dynasty did Disney's Mulan take place in?

Well I was thinking that it takes place in Sui Dynasty because of the Huns and all. Or maybe the Ming dynasty, because it featured the forbidden city. But, the emporors name is Zhou in the movie, which is also a dynasty, but i think that has nothing to do with it, because Shang is also a dynasty and its probably just a reference to chinese culture. We are learning about China's Dynasty's in school right now and I was just curious.

is it true - that historically castration has been primarily done by men, to other men?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castration Punishment The procedure of castration as punishment during Middle-ages Involuntary castration appears in the history of warfare, sometimes used by one side to torture or demoralize their enemies. It was practised to extinguish opposing male lineages and thus allow the victor to sexually possess the defeated group's women.
